It could be the “ebb and flop” of our recent weather, or maybe I’m feeling a bit nostalgic, but I’m having a hard time letting these images go. In fact, I have a hard time letting most images go. I’m a bit of a perfectionist, so I tend to dwell on the weaknesses of my photos, which is how my “Almost” category- a folder of images deemed imperfect- came to light. For me, these images are “Almosts” for many reasons.
I find myself allowing a lot of empty space in my photos when the light is nice. Maybe it’s because in order to notice nice light you need to see where the distinction between light and dark lies. Maybe it’s because nice golden light makes everything look great, so I try to include as much as I can. Maybe I’m photographing a mood instead of a subject. Or Maybe it just allows me, a photographer, to see as everybody else does, and quit worrying about the imperfections.
