BELLEVUE – Tim Feenstra, a pro from TPC Snoqualmie, and John Cassidy, an amateur from Tahoma Valley Golf and Country Club in Yelm, vaulted to the top of the leaderboard on Tuesday during the second round of the 81st-annual Washington Open tournament at Glendale Country Club.

Feenstra, one of four co-leaders after Monday’s first round, stayed in a tie for the lead with a second-round 68 on the par-71 layout. Cassidy joined Feenstra in first place with a sizzling 65, the best round of the tournament and one stroke off the Glendale course record. Both have 6-under-par scores of 136.

Third place is shared by former Seattle Mariners pitcher Erik Hanson, an amateur from Redmond’s Sahalee Country Club, and Derek Berg, an amateur from Redmond’s Trilogy Golf Club, both at 139. Hanson had a 71 on Tuesday while Berg posted a 70.

Amateur Jim Strickland, formerly from Mill Creek and a two-time winner of the Washington Open, is tied for seventh at 1-under-141. He had a 71 on Tuesday.

Among Snohomish County golfers, Zack Shriver of Everett Golf and Country Club has the top score through two rounds. He followed a first-round 72 with a 71 on Tuesday and is tied for 15th at 143.

Ninety-four golfers made the second-round cut, which included the 65 pros plus any amateurs in that range.

The final round begins today at 7 a.m., with the leaders teeing off at 11:55 a.m.
