Fans started streaming out with about 3:30 left in the game as Arizona State opened up a 15-point lead. And by the time that lead got to 20, Hec Ed was nearly half empty.
And as this one goes final, it’s a 77-63 win for ASU. That’s the end of an 11-game winning streak over Arizona State for Washington, the end of an 11-game winning streak in home finales, and almost certainly the end of Washington’s NCAA Tournament hopes.
This is going to be a tough loss for the Huskies to swallow, as it follows a stretch of three wins in four games that had the team thinking NCAA Tournament again. Now, it looks like the only hope for Washington is to win the Pac-10 Tournament.
This game was also huge for Arizona State, which is now 7-7 in Pac-10 play with four games remaining.
Jon Brockman led the Huskies with 21 points and 15 rebounds. James Harden had 25 points and eight rebounds for ASU.
