8:50 P.M. UPDATE: Just saw a brief TV replay of the end of the incident. Definitely pushing and shoving, but by the time the camera focused on the scrum, all we could see was Figgins back near the far corner of the dugout and Jose Lopez — his jersey nearly fully ripped off — being pushed away by hitting coach Alonzo Powell. It didn’t appear this was between Lopez and Figgins. We couldn’t see manager Don Wakamatsu in the picture.

From this pressbox seat, the view of the Mariners’ dugout lets me see only the top couple of steps.
However, there definitely was an incident down there before the bottom of the fifth inning a few minutes ago. All we know now is that second baseman Chone Figgins has been taken out of the game, replaced by pinch hitter Josh Wilson (who doubled).
In the top of the inning, left fielder Michael Saunders was charged with a throwing error on Mike Cameron’s double. Saunders’ throw went well wide of second base — to the infield side of the bag — and Figgins didn’t appear to make a great effort to get the ball. It rolled toward first base and Cameron reached third on the play.
I was watching Saunders with my binoculars to see if he ws showing any sign that his jammed middle finger, which kept him out of games this week until tonight, was troubling him. He didn’t. But as Saunders removed his cap and walked down the steps, players and coaches could be seen rushing toward the far end. That’s when the activity faded from my view of the dugout.
