Even after death, Terry Ennis keeps winning.
Last month Ennis, the longtime local football coach who died of cancer nearly four months ago, won the Tony Gasparovich Memorial Coach Award during the 42nd Annual Scholar-Athlete Award Ceremony at Qwest Field in Seattle.
More than 500 people attended the ceremony, sponsored by the Seattle-King County Chapter of the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame.
According to a press release from Archbishop Murphy High School, where Ennis built a remarkably successful football program, the Tony Gasparovich award “is presented to a football supporter who exhibits love and dedication of the game through their principles and leadership to those with whom they work. A long time football coach and member of the Seattle Chapter, Tony Gasparovich embodied these attributes in his life.”
Many of Ennis’ relatives, including his wife Fran and their three children, attended the ceremony and accepted the award on Ennis’ behalf.
