The Everett AquaSox baseball team announced its roster for the upcoming season.

“EVERETT, Wash. – The Everett AquaSox, Short-Season Class-A affiliate of the Seattle Mariners, have released the roster for the upcoming 2010 season as many players arrived in town Sunday afternoon. The team will see their first action together June 16 in the exhibition Everett Cup.
“Four players return to Everett after spending time with the team in 2009. Pitcher Fray Martinez, outfielder Jose Rivero and infielders Fred Bello and Kevin Mailloux have been assigned to the AquaSox to begin the season. Pitcher Ogui Diaz also spent time with the AquaSox in 2006 and 2007.
“The AquaSox roster features five 2010 Seattle Mariners draft picks; four of them pitchers. Right-handed pitcher Stephen Pryor highlights the new additions as the Mariners fifth-round pick out of Tennessee Tech University, where he went 4-4 with four saves in his junior year. Pryor, who struck out 75 batters in 41 innings last season, holds the single-season record at Tennessee Tech for strikeouts per nine innings with 16.46.
“Fellow right-hander Willy Kesler was drafted in the 18th round out of the University of New Mexico, from an impressive Lobos team that saw five players taken in this year’s draft. Kesler finished his senior season with a 6-3 record and a 3.92 ERA, while also tossing three complete games and one shutout.
The AquaSox receive two more Mariners pitching draftees with 34th-round pick Tyler Whitney and 36th-round selection Forrest Snow. Whitney, a left-hander who will don the frog cap after finishing his senior season at Mississippi State University, compiled eight wins and 156 strikeouts in 47 career appearances at MSU.
“Seattle-native Forrest Snow was originally drafted by the Mariners in 2007 out of Seattle’s Lakeside School, but chose to attend UW instead of signing. The 6’6” righty finished his final collegiate season with a 4-2 record and 6.30 ERA.
“Outfielder Robbie Anston, the Mariners 26th-round selection out of Boston College, joins the AquaSox after hitting .324 with 35 RBIs and 18 stolen bases in his senior season. Another 2010 Mariners acquisition, catcher Jimmy Jacquot, makes the AquaSox roster as a non-drafted free agent out of the University of Cincinnati.
“Jose Moreno led the AquaSox in 2008 and returns to manage the team after spending the 2009 season with the Pulaski Mariners of the Appalachian League. New Hitting Coach Scott Steinmann is also a former member of the AquaSox, both as a hitting coach in 1999 and a player in 1996. Pitching Coach Rich Dorman and long-time Head Trainer Spyder Webb return to the AquaSox from last year’s staff, and Chris Love will serve as the performance specialist.”
