The Everett AquaSox baseball team announced its 2011 roster on Tuesday. the list includes two players who were members of Everett’s 2010 Northwest League championship team — catcher Billy Marcoe and relief pitcher Bennett Whitmore.
The roster also features three college pitchers selected by
the Seattle Mariners in last week’s draft: Cameron Hobson from the University of Dayton (11th round), Cody Weiss from La Salle (14th round) and Joseph DiRocco from Seton Hall (21st round).
Everett is a Class A minor-league affiliate of the Mariners.
Other notable players include pitcher Jason Buursma, originally from Seattle, who joins the AquaSox after pitching for the Class AAA Memphis Redbirds earlier this season, and infielder Marcus Littlewood, a second-round pick of the Mariners in the 2010 draft.
Fans get their first chance to see the 2011 AquaSox on Wednesday night when they play the Everett Merchants in an exhibition game. The first pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Everett Memorial Stadium.
Everett opens its NWL season Friday night at Tri-City. The home opener is June 22.
