BOISE, Idaho — Corey Simpson continued his torrid hitting and the Everett AquaSox scored four unearned runs off four Boise errors in a 7-2 victory over the last-place Hawks Thursday at Memorial Stadium.
It’s the third straight victory for the AquaSox (14-8) on the heels of a four-game losing streak.
Simpson went 3-for-5 and hit his fifth home run of the season — a solo shot — in the seventh inning to lead Everett offensively.
Simpson has six hits in his last 11 at-bats with two homers, seven RBI and four runs scored in that span.
The AquaSox got strong pitching performances from all three of the arms used by manager Rob Mummau on Thursday, as Darin Gillies worked five innings for his first win of the season. The only blemish on his outing was a 2-run home run allowed to Kevin Padlo in the fourth inning.
Gillies allowed all three of Boise’s hits, fanning one and walking two. Jefferson Arias and Spencer Herrmann combined for four innings of scoreless, hitless relief to finish off the Hawks (7-15), as the trio faced one batter over the minimum.
Logan Taylor added two RBI for Everett and Conner Hale chipped in three hits.
