PASCO — It took four games, but the Everett AquaSox finally figured Tri-City out.
Or, at the very least, Manelik Pimentel and Kevin Reynolds found the answer.
After losing its first three games of a series with Tri-City, Everett finally bounced back to capture an 8-5 victory at Gesa Stadium Saturday night. Pimentel and Reynolds led the attack by going a combined 6-for-9 with four doubles, two runs scored and five RBI.
The win improves the Frogs to 10-15. The Dust Devils fell to 16-9.
Reynolds got Everett started off on the right foot by smacking a double on the first at bat of the game. That sparked a two-run inning that included a run-scoring double by Pimentel.
Tri-City soon caught up to tie the score at 3-3 after four, when the Frogs took over for good. In the top of the fifth, Dennis Raben and Travis Howell started off a rally by getting hit by pitches. Pimentel then doubled again, scoring both runners, to give Everett a 5-3 lead.
The Frogs then plated a single run in the sixth on a sacrifice fly and one more in the seventh on a run-scoring single by Pimentel to make it a commanding 7-3 advantage. Everett scored once more in the eighth on doubles by Reynolds and Raben.
The Dust Devils made a final threat in the bottom of the ninth, scoring a run off a single and a double, before stranding a runner at second.
Steven Hensley picked up the win to go to 1-1 on the season, and did so impressively. The Everett right-hander struck out nine batters in five innings, allowing three runs on six hits. Matthew Renfree also pitched two innings of no-hit ball in relief.
In the first three games of the series, Tri-City had posted wins of 6-1, 8-3 and 11-4. They had another 10 hits in this one, but left 10 runners on base. Outfielder Charles Blackmon was 3-for-5 with two runs and an RBI.
Pimentel, who had sat the previous two games, finished 3-for-5 with four RBI. Reynolds was 3-for-4 with two runs and an RBI. Second baseman Luis Nunez also had a nice night, going 3-for-5 with a run scored.
