VANCOUVER, British Columbia — Geoandry Montilla hit a solo home run in the second inning to lift the Everett AquaSox to a 1-0 win over the Vancouver Canadians on Thursday.
AJ Franks got Reilly Johnson to ground out with a runner on third to end the game for his first save of the season.
Everett starter Carlos Hernandez (1-1) picked up the win after allowing just four hits over six scoreless innings. Opposing starter Randy Pondler (0-2) took the tough loss in the Northwest League game after giving up one run and four hits over six innings.
The Canadians were held scoreless for the third time this season, while the AquaSox’s staff recorded their first shutout of the year.
