AquaSox blow big early lead in loss to Indians

Everett races in front by six runs after two innings, but can’t hold off Spokane in a 10-9 defeat.

EVERETT — The Spokane Indians erased a six-run deficit after two innings and rallied to beat the Everett AquaSox 10-9 on Thursday night at Funko Field.

Robert Perez Jr. hit a grand slam in a five-run first inning and Alberto Rodriguez added a run-scoring single in the second as the AquaSox took an early 6-0 lead.

The Indians scored twice in the third inning before James Parker hit a solo home run in the fourth to give Everett a 7-2 lead.

But Spokane scored eight runs between the fifth and ninth innings, including a go-ahead RBI double by Robby Martin Jr. in the top of the seventh, to earn the comeback win.

Spencer Packard hit a two-out, two-run home run in the bottom of the ninth to pull the AquaSox to within one, but Victor Labrada struck out swinging to end the game.

Bryan Woo started on the mound for Everett (53-63) and allowed four runs on seven hits in five innings. Woo struck out eight and walked two.

Alberto Rodriguez went 3-for-5, and Packard and Labrada each went 3-for-6 for the AquaSox.

Hunter Goodman went 3-for-5 with four RBI and Martin Jr. finished 4-for-5 with three RBI for Spokane (60-54).
