SPOKANE — The Everett AquaSox scored four runs in the first inning, but couldn’t hold the early lead in a 6-5 road loss to the Spokane Indians on Wednesday evening.
Grant Lavigne provided the big blow for the Indians with a solo home run in the bottom of the sixth inning to break a 5-5 tie and Spokane held on for the tight win.
Dariel Gomez hit his sixth home run of the season for the AquaSox in the big first inning. Alberto Rodriguez added three hits and an RBI in the game and Marysville Pilchuck alum Trent Tingelstad doubled and scored a run.
Juan Mercedes started on the mound for Everett (16-23) and allowed six runs on seven hits in six innings. Mercedes struck out eight and walked one. Brendan McGuigan and Leon Hunter Jr. each tossed a scoreless inning of relief.
Colin Simpson and Julio Carreras also homered for Spokane (23-16) in the win.
