HILLSBORO, Ore. — The Everett AquaSox dropped the opener of a six-game series with the Hillsboro Hops 4-3 Tuesday on a walk-off double by Cam Coursey.
Everett (2-1) took a 3-0 lead in the top of the third on Tyler Keenan’s two-run double, but Hillsboro (1-3) answered back with a run in the bottom half of the inning and tied it in the fourth on a solo home run by Adrian Del Castillo and Noelvi Marte’s throwing error that allowed Tim Tawa to score.
Dariel Gomez went 3-for-4 with a home run and Tyler Keenan and Spencer Packard each had two hits for the AquaSox.
Everett starter Jimmy Joyce allowed three runs — one earned — over four innings on three hits and two walks. He struck out one. Jarod Bayless (0-1) got only one out in the ninth inning and took the loss.
Coursey finished 3-for-4 and Hops reliever Jake Rice (1-0) earned the win after pitching a scoreless ninth.
