EVERETT — Jacen Roberson hit a go-ahead, two-run double in the top of the sixth inning and the Hillsboro Hops held on for a tight 6-5 win over the Everett AquaSox on Wednesday night at Funko Field.
Hillsboro took an early 4-3 lead after an explosive first two innings that saw a total of four home runs, two by each team.
A.J. Vukovich hit a three-run shot and Ramses Malave added a solo home run for the Hops, and Dariel Gomez hit a two-run bomb and Justin Lavey added a solo homer for Everett.
The AquaSox took the lead in the bottom of the fourth when Robert Perez Jr. scored on a passed ball and Ty Duvall plated Lavey with a single to make it 5-4.
Logan Rinehart started on the mound for Everett (48-49) and allowed four runs on two hits in four innings. Rinehart struck out four and walked two.
Vukovich finished the game 2-for-4 with three RBI and two runs scored, and Kyle Backhus struck out five in the final two innings to earn the save for Hillsboro (41-55).
