EVERETT — The Everett AquaSox fell in an early hole and couldn’t recover in a 6-2 loss to the Hillsboro Hops on Thursday night at Funko Field.
Caleb Roberts hit a run-scoring single and later scored on a wild pitch in the first inning, and Ryan Bliss hit a two-run home run in the second as the Hops raced out to a 4-0 lead they would not relinquish.
Robert Perez Jr. hit a two-run double in the bottom of the third to cut Everett’s deficit to 4-2, but those proved to be the only runs in the game for the AquaSox.
Victor Labrada and Alberto Rodriguez had two hits each for Everett (48-50).
Jamison Hill (8), Conor Grammes (5) and Christian Montes De Oca combined to strike out 15 batters for Hillsboro (42-55).
