SPOKANE — The Everett AquaSox mounted a late rally, but fell short in a 5-3 loss to the Spokane Indians on the road Wednesday night.
Trailing 5-0 in the top of the ninth inning, Patrick Frick drove in Austin Shenton with a base hit to put Everett on the board. Three batters later, Cody Grosse drove in Tyler Keenan and Frick with a base hit to cut the Spokane lead to 5-3. Kaden Polcovich flied out to left field to end the threat and the game.
Keenan finished with two hits, and Grosse, Frick, Shenton and Julio Rodriguez each had a base hit for the AquaSox.
Levi Stoudt started on the mound for Everett (10-4) and allowed three runs, two earned, on five hits over 5.1 innings.
Brenton Doyle slugged a two-run home run in the eighth inning for Spokane (4-10).
The loss was the AquaSox’s second straight after winning eight games in a row.
