HILLSBORO, Ore. — The Everett AquaSox gave up runs in bunches, including six in the second inning and five in the fifth, on their way to a 13-1 loss to the Hillsboro Hops on Sunday at Ron Tonkin Field.
Cam Coursey went 3-for-3 with two runs scored and three RBI, Tim Tawa had four hits and scored three times and Ryan Bliss drove in three runs on a bases-loaded double if the fifth to lead the offensive onslaught for the Hops (5-4), who pounded out 12 hits and walked five times.
Luke Albright (1-0) earned the win, striking out six over five innings while allowing only one run, two hits and one walk. Four Hillsboro pitchers combined to throw four innings of two-hit relief.
Spencer Packard drove in Everett’s only run with an RBI double in the fourth. The AquaSox (3-5) struck out 15 times and managed just three hits and two walks.
Everett starter Jimmy Joyce (0-1) allowed six runs on three hits and three walks in just 1.1 innings.
