EUGENE, Ore. — The AquaSox saw their one-game lead in the High-A West standings evaporate Sunday in a 6-4 loss to the Eugene Emeralds.
Everett (56-39) allowed all six Eugene runs in the fourth inning on a wild pitch, two sacrifice flies and a three-run home run by Jairo Pomares.
The Emeralds’ big inning erased a 3-0 lead, which the AquaSox claimed in the top half of the inning on a three-run shot by Justin Lavey.
The win gave Eugene (57-40) its fifth victory in the finale of a seven-game series that featured the league’s top two squads.
Everett still leads the division by .002 percentage points.
Eugene starter Aaron Phillips (4-7) earned the win after tossing seven innings while allowing three runs and seven hits, striking out six.
Tyler Driver (2-3) was credited with the loss, allowing four runs over 3.2 innings pitched.
