EVERETT — Channy Ortiz hit a two-run triple in a three-run fifth inning as the Hillsboro Hops broke open a tied game and cruised the rest of the way to an 8-4 win over the Everett AquaSox on Wednesday night at Funko Field.
Down 3-0 early, Alberto Rodriguez hit a three-run home run in the bottom of the fourth inning to pull Everett even at 3-3.
The Hops added single runs in the seventh and eighth innings before Victor Labrada hit a solo home run, his 10th of the season, in the bottom of the eighth cut Hillsboro’s lead to 8-4. But that’s as lose as the AquaSox would get the rest of the way.
Rodriguez finished 2-for-5 with a home run, his 10th of the season, and three RBI. Labrada, Spencer Packard and Justin Lavey each had two hits for Everett (58-69).
Adrian Del Castillo went 3-for-5 with two RBI and Ortiz went 2-for-4 with two RBI for Hillsboro (57-69).
The teams split the first two games of the six-game, season-ending series.
