EVERETT — J.J. D’Orazio hit a go-ahead two-run home run in the top of the fifth inning and the Hillsboro Hops beat the Everett AquaSox 8-4 in a Memorial Day game at Funko Field.
Gary Mattis added a three-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the game away for the Hops.
Tyler Locklear had an RBI single and Axel Sanchez added a two-run triple as the AquaSox took a 3-1 lead in the bottom of the first inning.
But Everett (23-23) could only push a single more run across on an RBI groundout from Sanchez in the bottom of the fifth.
D’Orazio finished with three RBI and Channy Ortiz added a solo home run for Hillsboro (19-27).
The teams are off Tuesday before playing the second of the six-game series at 7:05 p.m. Wednesday.
