EVERETT — The Everett AquaSox jumped out to an early lead and held on to beat the Tri-City Dust Devils 5-4 on Tuesday at Funko Field.
It’s the eighth straight victory for the AquaSox (28-29).
Andy Thomas hit a two-run double and Dariel Gomez added a two more with a single to put Everett up 5-0 in the third.
Gomez finished with three hits and Justin Lavey had an RBI double in the second.
Straton Podaras hit a two-run single in the fifth and Gabe Matthews mashed a two-run home run in the sixth for the Dust Devils (25-29).
Four of Everett’s five pitchers combined to throw seven hitless innings. Evan Johnson (2-0) struck out three over two scoreless innings to earn the win. Isaiah Campbell pitched a perfect ninth for his second save.
Tri-City starter Nick Mondak (2-5) allowed five runs on eight hits and one walk over five innings.
