HILLSBORO, Ore. — Kaden Polcovich laced a two-run single to left field in the top of the ninth inning as the Everett AquaSox rallied with three runs in the final frame to beat the Vancouver Canadians 5-3 in the opener of a six-game series on Tuesday night at Ron Tonkin Field.
Julio Rodriguez followed Polcovich with an RBI single to give Everett a late insurance run.
Rodriguez finished the game 3-for-4 with a walk and two runs batted in and Cody Grosse added a triple for the AquaSox’s offense.
Matt Brash started for Everett (13-6) and allowed two runs, one earned, on three hits in five innings. Brash struck out six and walked four.
Brendan McGuigan walked one and struck out one in the ninth to earn the save.
Cameron Eden doubled and drove in two runs for Vancouver (12-7), which is playing the beginning of its season in Oregon due to the Canadian border being closed to non-essential travel during the COVID-19 pandemic.
