EVERETT — The Everett AquaSox scored four runs in the second inning and six runs in the seventh and beat the Vancouver Canadians 11-6 on Tuesday night in the first of a six-game series at Funko Field.
Kennie Taylor’s two-run triple was the big blow in the second inning, and Jake Anchia launched a three-run home run in the seventh to stake Everett to a 9-3 lead.
Taylor finished the game a home run shy of the cycle and drove in three runs. Anchia, Tyler Keenan and Victor Labrada all had two hits for the AquaSox.
Pitching for the first time in over a month, Juan Then started for Everett (53-30) and struck out five hitters in 1.2 innings. Then allowed no runs on only one hit. Taylor Dollard allowed three runs on five hits in five innings of relief to earn the win, and improved to 7-0 on the season for the AquaSox.
Will Robertson and Sebastian Espino each had two hits, and Adam Kloffenstein struck out 11 batters in five innings for Vancouver (37-48).
