EVERETT — The Everett AquaSox capitalized on late miscues and held off a Vancouver rally in the ninth to beat the Canadians 9-7 on Friday night at Funko Field.
Down 5-4 in the bottom of the seventh, Victor Labrada singled to left with one out and stole second base to get into scoring position. Cade Marlowe singled home Labrada, stole second, advanced to third on a wild pitch and scored on another wild pitch to give Everett a 6-5 lead.
With one out in the bottom of the eighth, Connor Hoover, Justin Lavey and Liam Sabino drew consecutive walks to load the bases. Kennie Taylor drove in Hoover on an infield single and Labrada singled home Lavey. After a Marlowe strikeout, Sabino scored on another Canadians wild pitch to give the AquaSox a 9-5 lead.
Vancouver scored twice in the top of the ninth to cut Everett’s lead to two, but Nate Fisher induced a groundout with the tying run at the plate to end the game.
Labrada went 3-for-5 with two runs batted in, and Jake Anchia went 2-for-4 with his 11th home run of the season for Everett (54-32).
Spencer Horwitz went 2-for-3 with three RBI to lead Vancouver (39-49).
