VANCOUVER, B.C. – The end of one streak and the continuation of another added up to an 8-3 Everett AquaSox victory over Vancouver on Tuesday.
Though a two-game winning streak might not inspire parade plans, it’s a big deal for the Frogs. The AquaSox, who improved to 16-25, won two in a row for the first time since June 29-30.
Everett also ended a streak during the Northwest League victory at Nat Bailey Stadium. The AquaSox scored more than five runs for the first time since losses to Boise on July 4 and 5.
Four Frogs recorded at least two hits as Everett equaled its season high with 13 hits. Vancouver fell to 20-20.
Welington Dotel led the way, going 4-for-5 with two RBI. Gregory Halman scored three runs and hit a two-run home run in the top of the first inning.
AquaSox starter Edward Paredes struck out a season-high eight batters to improve to 4-3. Paredes, who did not allow a Vancouver hit until the fourth inning, allowed four hits and three runs in 51/3 innings while walking five.
Paredes, Nicholas Hill and Marquis Pettis combined to strike out 16 Canadians. Pettis struck out five consecutive batters after entering the game in the eighth inning.
Halman, who was named the league’s offensive player of the week on Monday, jump-started the offense on Tuesday. With one out in the top of the first inning, Edilio Colina singled to left. Halman followed with a two-run homer on an 0-1 pitch from Vancouver starter Brent Lysander (0-1).
Manelik Pimentel and Dotel followed with singles, but Joe Dunigan ended the inning by hitting into a double play.
The AquaSox increased their lead to 5-0 in the third when the first five batters of the inning reached base.
Oqui Diaz and Edilio Colina singled, and Halman walked to load the bases. Pimentel recorded an RBI when he walked with the bases loaded. Dotel followed with a two-run single off Vancouver shortstop Michael Richard’s shoulder.
Paredes allowed his first hit in the fourth inning. Daniel Hamblin led off with a single to right-center field and scored on Walter Correa’s triple that stayed just fair along the left field line. Despite allowing Vancouver’s first run, Paredes struck out three in the inning.
Paredes found more trouble in the fifth inning.
The left-hander loaded the bases with a single and a pair of walks to set up a confrontation with Hamblin. After fouling off six consecutive pitches, Hamblin closed the gap to 5-3 with a two-run double.
The Frogs tacked on their sixth run of the game when No. 9 hitter Jermaine Brock drove in Dunbar, who led off the inning with a double.
The AquaSox extended their lead to 8-3 in the seventh.
Halman, Pimentel and Dotel hit consecutive one-out singles to load the bases. Halman scored when Vancouver catcher Dante Love was called for catcher’s interference while Halman hit a ball foul. Dunbar scored Pimentel with a sacrifice fly to right field.

Halman honored: Halman was named the Northwest League offensive player of the week on Monday. Halman registered 10 hits in 22 at bats, including a homer and six doubles. The Netherlands native also stole three bases, scored five runs and drove in three.
