When the Everett AquaSox play the Spokane Indians on Thursday in the opening game of the Northwest League championship series, they will be without one of their top players.
Everett’s parent club, the Seattle Mariners, announced Wednesday that Mailloux, the Frogs’ all-star third baseman, has been promoted to the Class A Clinton LumberKings. The LumberKings play the Cedar Rapids Kernels on Wednesday in Game 1 of their three-game Midwest League playoff series.
Mailloux was a major reason for Everett’s success this season. He hit .296 and finished the regular season with league highs in home runs (15), total bases (144), runs scored (63), extra-base hits (37) and slugging percentage (.576).
Everett reached the NWL championship series by sweeping Vancouver 2-0 in best-of-three first round.
