AquaSox’s bats come alive in 13-3 win over Dust Devils

EVERETT — The Everett AquaSox struck early and hammered away as they defeated the Tri-City Dust Devils 13-3 before 1,643 Wednesday at Everett Memorial Stadium.

Ryne Inman (1-3) earned the win as he struck out nine in five innings. He allowed four hits and three earned runs while walking two for the AquaSox (9-12).

Osvaldo Hernandez (0-1) took the loss for Tri-City (12-9) as he surrendered four earned runs on six hits in two innings.

The Frogs pounded out 15 hits.

Joseph Rosa and Johnny Adams each had three hits and drove in three runs. Eugene Helder had two hits and scored three times, while Juan Camacho had two hits and two RBI and Austin Grebeck added two hits.

The AquaSox took an early lead in the bottom of the first inning. Evan White drove in Chris Torres with an RBI single and Helder’s single scored White to give the Frogs a 2-0 lead.

Everett’s advantage swelled to 4-0 in the second with an RBI double by Camacho and an RBI single by Rosa.

The Dust Devils cut the deficit to one with a three-run third. Justin Lopez doubled and scored on a groundout, and Tre Carter launched a long two-run home run to right-center to make it 4-3.

Adams added an RBI double in the third and a sac fly in the fifth.

Two more runs came home in the sixth on a two-out error, and Austin Grebeck and Rosa added RBI singles in the seventh. Adams added another RBI single in the eighth to complete the scoring.

Everett reliever JP Sears worked two scoreless innings and fanned five.

The AquaSox begin a five-game series with Salem-Keizer Thursday night at 7:05 p.m.
