Ballpark Digest named the Everett AquaSox’s “Funko Friday” promotion the publication’s 2019 promotion of the year on Monday.
The promotion, in its first year, centered around giveaways of AquaSox-themed “Pop!” figurines every Friday home game.
The team’s mascot, ‘Webbly’ was the first giveaway on June 21, followed by former Mariners outfielder Jay Buhner on Aug. 16.
The promotions drew an average crowd of 3,985 to Funko Field at Everett Memorial Stadium, the highest being a crowd of 4,689 on Aug. 2. The stadium’s official capacity is 4,118, but overflow seating was utilized in the bleachers and in the berm in right field to accommodate a large crowd.
The AquaSox announced a field naming-rights agreement with Funko in March.
