PASCO — Justin Lavey was thrown out at home trying to stretch a triple into a game-tying inside-the-park home run and a ninth-inning Everett AquaSox rally fell just short in a 7-6 loss to the Tri-City Dust Devils on Wednesday.
Down four runs in the top of the ninth, Tyler Keenan plated Cole Barr on a base hit to cut Everett’s deficit to 7-4. Then with two outs and the tying run at the plate, Lavey hit a two-run triple to right field scoring Spencer Packard and Keenan, but was thrown out at home on a relay from third baseman Kyle Kasser to catcher Straton Podaras to end the game.
Lavey went 2-for-5 with three RBI, Alberto Rodriguez went 3-for-4 with a run batted in and Keenan finished 2-for-4 with two RBI for Everett (11-16).
Mike Peabody had three hits and Kyren Paris and Francisco Del Valle had two hits each for Tri-City.
