MOUNT VERNON – Kat Taylor didn’t let the cold weather cool her or her teammates down Wednesday night.

Taylor scored all four of Archbishop Murphy’s goals and the Wildcats moved on to the Class 2A District One championship game with a 4-0 victory over Nooksack Valley.

The Wildcats will face Sultan on Saturday at 3 p.m. Archbishop Murphy is 2-0 against the Turks this season.

Alicia Bourke recorded the shutout in goal for the Wildcats.

At Mount Vernon

Goals-Archbishop Murphy: Taylor 4. Goalkeepers-Nooksack Valley: Dilliard. Archbishop Murphy: Bourke. Records-Nooksack Valley 9-9 overall. Archbishop Murphy 14-3.

Sultan 2, Meridian 0: Sultan advanced to the state tournament shutting out Meridian in a Class 2A District One tournament match in Mount Vernon. Cecily Beckers and Alicia McNulty scored for the Turks.

At Mount Vernon

Goals-Sultan: Beckers, McNulty. Goalkeepers-Meridian: Jorgenson. Sultan: Sumpter. Records-Meridian 11-6-1 overall. Sultan 12-6.

Cedarcrest 3, Bellingham 2 (OT): Jamie Coe’s goal in overtime gave Cedarcrest a victory over No.1 seed Bellingham and the Class 3A District One championship. Rachel Dussell and Amanda Johnson added goals for Cedarcrest, which clinched a state tournament berth.

At Bellingham

Goals-Bellingham: Marsitek, Shannon. Cedarcrest: Dussell, Johnson, Coe. Goalkeepers-Bellingham: Margura. Cedarcrest: Holerud. Records-Bellingham 16-0-2 overall. Cedarcrest 19-0.

Boys soccer

Mount Vernon Christian 1, Snohomish County Christian 0: Jimmy Collins scored a first-half goal to give Mount Vernon Christian the victory in the Tri-District 1A/B game. Matt VanderArk had the shutout in goal.

At Mountlake Terrace

Goals-Mount Vernon Christian: Collins. Goalkeepers-Mount Vernon Christian: VanderArk. Snohomish County Christian: Adams, Doucet. Records-Mount Vernon Christian 14-2-1. Snohomish County Christian 8-9.

Volleyball

Coupeville 2, La Conner 1: Coupeville wrapped up the Northwest A League No.1 seed with a 16-25, 25-23, 29-27 victory over La Conner. Kirsty Croghan and Jennifer Bailey had 11 kills each and Mindy Horr added 30 assists for Coupeville. With the loss, La Conner will get the No. 2 seed in the District tournament.

Class 2A District One Tournament: In a winner-to-state game, Lynden Christian and King’s went to a deciding fifth game, and the Lyncs advanced 25-15, 24-26, 25-21, 18-25, 15-6. With the victory the Lyncs clinched a State berth and will face Meridian in the championship game on Saturday. King’s still has a chance at a berth, needing wins in two loser-out matches. Janelle Aupperlee had 25 kills and Kristin DeHaan finished with 46 assists for Lynden Christian. Sara Mosiman (16 kills), Alex Keeny (13 kills and three blocks) and Ashley Strecker (35 assists) led King’s. Nooksack Valley eliminated Granite Falls with a 25-16, 25-18, 25-17 victory. Granite Falls was led by Diana Haug’s 10-for-10 serving and 12 digs and Emily Hanby’s eight kills, seven blocks and 13 digs.
