Arlington’s season ends with loss to the Auburn Trojans

AUBURN— Jeff Gouveia rushed for 80 yards on 12 carries and three touchdowns to power Auburn past Arlington in a loser-out Class 3A quad-district playoff game Friday night at Auburn Memorial Stadium.

Chris Young added 78 yards on six carries for the Trojans (7-2 overall).

Jerad Barber scored Arlington’s sole touchdown on a 20 yard pass from Brandon Gunter.

The Eagles finished the season 4-5.

Blaine 46 Cedarcrest 21: At Duvall, The Red Wolves came into the night with an 8-1 record, earning them home field in a loser out game against the Borderites. A 2A state playoff berth was on the line and the Borderites weren’t about to leave Duvall with a loss. In a high scoring affair, the Borderites came out on top and earned themselves a trip to the playoffs.

Burlington-Edison 35, Granite Falls 7: At Burlington, quarterback Kolby Arendse (9-for-12, 112 yards, three TD passes) led the Tigers to a 2A District 1 playoff victory. Granite Falls had two turnovers in the first half that resulted in Burlington-Edison touchdowns. Jullian Gamache carried 23 times for 84 yards for Granite Falls and scored his team’s only touchdown on a 1-yard run in the first quarter.

Lynden 41, South Whidbey 0: At Lynden, Tate Dallas threw for four touchdowns and finished with 226 passing yards to lead Lynden to the 2A District 1 playoff victory. Lyden’s Stephen Jackson finished with 87 yards on 13 carries.

Lynden gained a state berth with the win.

Darrington 52, Seattle Lutheran 17: At West Seattle, Mike Parris scored four touchdowns — on an 80-yard kick return and runs of 22, 17 and 33 yards — to lead Darrington to a win in the Class 2B Tri-District playoffs. Justin O’Dell added rushing TDs of 45 and 21 yards for the winners. Both teams advance to the state 2B tournament, with Darrington (10-0) playing host to Toutle Lake (8-2) in a first-round game on Nov. 9 or 10.
