Athletes of the Week

Boys soccer: Doug Whitney of Edmonds-Woodway scored three goals in a 5-0 win over Mountlake Terrace, helping the Warriors clinch the fourth and final Wesco South berth in the Class 4A District 1 playoffs.

Baseball: Brennan Grubb of Lynnwood pitched a one-hit shutout and went 2-for-3 with a grand slam and five RBI as the Royals beat Cedarcrest 11-1 for a berth in the Class 3A District 1 playoffs.

Softball: Ashly Forsberg of Monroe pitched a no-hitter with 10 strikeouts in a 9-1 win over Snohomish, and a one-hit shutout with 17 strikeouts in a 4-0 win over Cascade.

Boys golf: Eric McCardle of Oak Harbor shot a 2-under-par 70 at Eaglemont Golf Course to lead the Wildcats to first place after the first round of the Wesco North meet.

Girls golf: Christa Goldie scored 63 Stableford points to lead Kamiak to first place after the first round of the Wesco South meet.

Girls tennis: Jennifer and Stacy Huynh of Cascade fought back from a 4-1 deficit in the third set to tie their No. 2 doubles match, then came back from a 5-1 deficit in the tiebreaker to win 8-6. Their victory gave the Bruins a 4-3 win over Stanwood and the Wesco North dual- meet title.

Boys track: Ashton Mott of Lake Stevens won the 100- and 200-meter races, ran on the winning 1,600 relay team and was named the Male Athlete of the Meet to lead the Vikings to first place in the Stanwood Invitational.

Girls track: Katy Gross of Cascade won the 300-meter hurdles, the triple jump, long jump and high jump in the Everett District meet.
