Athletes of the Week

Boys tennis: Clayton Shaw of Cascade went 3-0 at No. 1 singles and defeated Stanwood’s Daniel Redfern in three sets in a battle of unbeatens to help the Bruins claim first place in the Wesco North.

Girls soccer: Arlington goalie Jessica Welk made 13 saves in a 0-0 tie with Cascade to help the Eagles claim their first point of the season.

Girls swimming: Leann Dull of Shorewood swam state-qualifying times in the 200- and 500-yard freestyle events to help the Thunderbirds defeat Lake Stevens 96-90 in a non-league meet. She also swam state-qualifying times in the 200 freestyle and 100 backstroke in a 126-60 victory over Shorecrest.

Volleyball: Mac Stout of Snohomish had 17 kills as the Panthers avenged a 2004 loss to Kamiak with a 3-1 win over the previously unbeaten Knights.

Boys cross country: Tyler Rapp of Lakewood won a Cascade Conference race to lead the Cougars to first place in a three-team meet.

Girls cross country: Amanda Stopa won her Wesco race on Thursday and followed that up with a victory in the Seaside Three-Course Challenge on Saturday in Seaside, Ore.

Boys soccer: David Asis of Grace Academy scored the game-winning goal in the 55th minute of a 1-0 victory over the Bear Creek School.

Football: Jesse Hoffman of Shorecrest set a school record with 290 yards rushing on 28 carries and scored four touchdowns in a 41-27 victory over Mountlake Terrace.
