The Atlanta Dream avoided falling to 0-4 on the season by defeating the New York Liberty 79-58 on Tuesday night.
Angel McCoughtry continued to rebound from a knee injury that forced her to miss the season’s first game by scoring 18 points for the Dream (1-3). McCoughtry scored 16 of her 18 points in the first half.
Essence Carson scored 21 points to lead the Liberty.
In Tuesday’s other game, the Indiana Fever improved to 3-1 with an 82-74 victory over the Tulsa Shock, who fell to 0-5.
Katie Douglas scored 22 points and grabbed seven rebounds to lead the Fever.
Ivory Latta scored 19 points to lead the Shock, who played without rookie Liz Cambage. Cambage suffered a concussion in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s loss to the Connecticut Sun. Cambage, a 6’8″ rookie from Australia is averaging 15.5 points and 7.8 rebounds per game.
