Awaiting league decision on Rabil

Stealth second-year transition player Paul Rabil was ejected in the third quarter of last Friday’s 12-9 win over the Minnesota Swarm, the Stealth’s opponent this Friday in Minnesota.

Rabil was tossed for an “illegal use of the stick” on Swarm forward Ryan Benesch after being called for a holding penalty with about 5 minutes left in the quarter.

Benesch fell to his knees while a number of Swarm players attempted to fight Rabil. Benesch stayed in the game and finished with a goal, three assists and six loosies.

The league reviews all game tape and a decision is forthcoming about Rabil’s status for upcoming games.

According to Stealth director of communications Michael Kennett, the league’s ruling might not come this week, meaning Rabil would be a go for Friday unless the team punishes him.

The transition man could see a one- or two-game suspension, or no punishment depending on if the league determines the hit was intentional.

Stealth head coach Chris Hall couldn’t be reached for comment.

Washington (6-0) heads east to face Minnesota (1-4) for a 5:35 p.m. (PT) start at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, Minn.
