One of the best parts about coming to a ski race? The Swiss fans and their giant cowbells. We’re not talking about miniature versions you might see on a drum kit. I’m pretty sure these things were actually removed from the necks of cows before they packed their bags and headed west.
And just to be clear, anytime you see a photo on this blog that I entered, it was taken by me, not our photographer, hence the poor quality and complete lack of artistic touch. Please don’t ever confuse what I post here with Jennifer Buchanan’s photos, as that would be very insulting to her work.
With not a lot interesting going on in Vancouver today, I decided to hop back on the bus to Whistler to see the men’s super G. After showing up way unnecessarily early last time, I slept a little later today and arrived at 10.
From an American standpoint, the main storyline will be whether or not Bode Miller can win his second medal in as many tries in these Olympics. As you no doubt have read or seen on TV, Miller was a much-hyped athlete heading into the Turin games in 2006, and he failed to win a medal. He came to these Olympics in the shadow of Lindsey Vonn, but another medal today will make him one of the big stories of these Olympics.
I’ll post an update here after the race, but until then you can follow along on twitter. That is if my fingers aren’t too frozen to type on my phone’s wee little keyboard.
