Well, I knew it was just a matter of time, and unfortunately that time has come. CoverItLive was a wonderful interface for live blogging, and it was available for free. But beginning in July CoverItLive began charging a usage fee, and their rates are way out of our budget range. So live blogs as they were formerly constituted are no more.
Don’t fear, however, because I will find an alternative. I’ll be using Twitter for live updates from training camp next week. Feel free to direct questions during camp to @NickHPatterson, and if you want to be a part of the conversation I plan on using the hashtag #TipsCamp. We’ll see how it goes, and it’s possible I’ll just use Twitter for away games this season.
Also, our tech guy is working on an improved commenting interface for our website that should be in place before the start of the regular season. I’m told it will streamline the process, so perhaps it will make a comment thread on the blog viable.
And if you know of any alternative live blogging programs, softwares, websites, let me know. At this point I’m open to all possibilities when it comes to maintaining the away-game environment. Any other thoughts or ideas you might have are also welcome, because I want to keep this going just as much as you do.
