SPOKANE – Tia Flamentis led a balanced Willapa Valley offense with nine points in the Vikings’ 42-28 victory over Darrington on Wednesday in the opening round of the state B girls basketball tournament at the Spokane Arena.
Flementis also led the Vikings (21-3) with 11 rebounds and six steals. Sophomore guard Amy Jones topped Darrington (16-8) with 14 points and 11 rebounds.
Willapa Valley shot just 25 percent (14-for-56) from the field, including 10 percent (3-for-29) in the second half. However, the Loggers shot just 12.5 percent in each half (7-for-56 for the game) and were never in contention.
Darrington plays Valley Christian (21-5) in a loser-out game Thursday.
