Washington Stealth rookie defenseman Matt Beers was selected for All-Rookie team honors today.

Beers, the 13th overall selection in the 2009 NLL entry draft from Coquitlam, B.C., helped anchor a staunch Stealth defense throughout the season. A 6-foot-3, 200-pound force who doesn’t back down from a fight (Beers served a one-game suspension this season after his involvement in a brawl with Minnesota), the rookie finished the season with a team-high 67 penalty minutes while grabbing 90 loose balls and scoring two goals and eight assists.

The 2009 rookie of the year, Rhys Duch, earned a 2nd Team All-Pro nod. As did Lewis Ratcliff, the regular season league leader with 46 goals.
