SPOKANE — Prelander Berroa was dominant over five innings pitched and the Everett AquaSox snapped a brief two-game skid with a 4-0 win over the Spokane Indians on Thursday night.
In just his third start with Everett since being acquired by the Seattle Mariners in a trade with the San Francisco Giants, Berroa allowed just one hit, walked one and struck out nine to earn the win. Mike Mokma, Luis Curvelo and Kyle Hill combined for four shutout innings in relief for the AquaSox.
After taking a 1-0 lead on a run-scoring single by Victor Labrada in the top of the fourth, Everett tacked on three insurance runs in the top of the eighth.
Labrada again singled in a run and James Parker followed with a two-run double to give the AquaSox a 4-0 lead.
Alberto Rodriguez, Spencer Lavey and Labrada all finished with two hits for Everett (17-23).
Julio Carreras had the lone extra-base hit for Spokane (23-17) with a double in the bottom of the ninth.
