VANCOUVER, B.C. — Cavan Biggio went 4-for-4 with two doubles and scored two runs, leading the Vancouver Canadians over the Everett AquaSox 6-5 on Tuesday night at Nat Bailey Stadium.
Vancouver had an answer for every run the Sox tried to make, taking an early lead and holding it throughout.
Everett (2-3) trailed 6-4 after seven innings, but had the potential go-ahead run at the plate with two outs in Jordan Cowan.
He singled to right field, scoring Nick Zammarelli from second and sending pinch-hitter Eric Filia to third, but Vancouver reliever Jackson Lowery struck out Austin Grebeck to end the threat.
Lowery earned his first save of the season after retiring Everett in order in the ninth, and recorded four of his five outs via the strikeout.
Down 5-4 entering the sixth, the AquaSox cut the Canadians’ lead to one on a run-scoring groundout by designated hitter Jose Leal that drove in David Greer.
Greer led off the frame with a walk.
Vancouver (3-2) jumped out to an early lead with a four-run second inning, as Biggio delivered the big blow with a two-run single to right field.
Everett starter Matthew Festa, who took the loss on Tuesday, also walked in a run during the inning.
Everett rebounded with three runs of its own in the top of the fourth.
After a walk and a hit batsman, a wild pitch advanced Gus Craig to third and Greer to second.
Zammarelli’s double to center field scored them both, and Jose Leal plated Zammarrelli with a single.
Zammarelli went 1-for-3 and Leal went 2-for-4 for Everett, each driving in a pair.
Cowan added two hits and an RBI.
