The Seattle Storm have announced that point guard Sue Bird had successful surgery to remove a cyst from her left knee on Thursday.
The surgery was performed by Dr. Michael Joyce in Hartford, Conn. Recovery time is estimated at six months. Bird has already announced that she would miss the 2013 season following her surgery.
Bird will remain in Connecticut through May and will begin rehabilitating her knee immediately.
“Surgery went well,” Bird said through a press release. “I feel find and am at home resting. Looking forward to being back in Seattle with my teammates.”
