Kevin John at Holiday Sports in Burlington said blackmouth action in the San Juan Islands remains decent, with northern areas best — the north end of Sinclair Island between buoy numbers 16 and 2; Alden Bank west of Bellingham putting out fish. Closer to Anacortes, he said, try Thatcher Pass, Eagle Bluff or Lopez Flats.
Gary Krein, owner/skipper of All Star Charters in Everett, said Marine Area 9 has been the top producer locally, particularly Double Bluff and Point No Point.
State Fish and Wildlife Department checks at the Port of Everett ramp on Saturday and Sunday counted 57 anglers with 4 chinook. At the Washington Park ramp west of Anacortes, the Saturday/Sunday count was 47 anglers with 11 blackmouth.
