BLOG: Silvertips on the verge of playoff opener vs. Thunderbirds

The WHL playoffs officially started Thursday with Tri-City up in Kelowna.

But the other seven series begin Friday.

There is no shortage of playoff preview material available so I’ll start with our Herald coverage.

I have a piece breaking down the two teams and a feature on Tips co-captain Matt Fonteyne who had a career year this season. Herald columnist and former Tips beat writer Nick Patterson has a column looking at the success of elite goaltending in the WHL playoffs.

The media members who cover the Thunderbirds bring additional coverage.

Colleague Andy Eide, with whom I record the ThunderTips hockey podcast has a series preview, while T-Birds color man Tim Pigulski has keys for a Seattle upset.

And Jim Riley, who covers both teams as a freelancer for the Seattle Times has a Carter Hart feature.

Shameless plug time. Give our ThunderTips podcast a listen. It’s embedded below:

You can also read this series preview from the WHL and this piece from the fellows over at Dub Network.
