There’s about 25 minutes to go to kickoff and it’s very windy here in Berkeley, probably blowing around 20 miles an hour. What that means to the game plan is hard to say. It could be an advantage to the Huskies as it could slow Cal’s passing game a bit. But that puts the ball in the hands of Marshawn Lynch, which isn’t necessarily a good thing either.
Other than the wind, though, it’s beautiful, sunny and the fans up on the hill overlooking the stadium seem excited.
As to whether the answer to the “Will Jake Locker Play” question is blowing in the wind, we’ll see. Locker’s family is here. Read into that what you will. As I said yesterday, I will be surprised if Locker doesn’t play some today.
This game is going to be decided pretty early. Cal has been explosive starting games, and the Huskies have not been good at the start of the first and third quarters. If the Huskies can withstand the Bears early, it could be a game. If not, it could be a really, really long day.
