TORONTO — The Toronto Blue Jays placed outfielder Travis Snider on the 15-day disabled list Monday because of a strained wrist.
Snider, a graduate of Jackson High School in Mill Creek, took one swing off a batting tee prior to Monday’s game against Minnesota and concluded his right wrist still didn’t feel right. He will travel to Dunedin, Fla., on Tuesday for an MRI.
The move was retroactive to Saturday and third baseman Edwin Encarnacion was activated from the disabled list.
The Blue Jays make their only visit to Seattle this week.
Snider has not played since Friday when he hit a three-run homer in the Blue Jays’ 16-10 victory over the Texas Rangers. He said the injury occurred when his bottom hand slipped on a swing during the at-bat in which he homered.
Snider is batting .241 with six home runs and 15 RBI in 33 games.
