Bothell clubs Eastlake, 42-6

BOTHELL – The Bothell Cougars, ranked No. 2 in Class 4A football, thrashed Eastlake 42-6 Thursday night in a Kingco 4A game at Pop Keeney Stadium.

Bart Ward led the Cougars with 206 yards rushing on 19 carries and scored three touchdowns.

Bothell (7-0 in league, 8-0 overall) took a 7-6 lead and built on it with a long, sustained drive to start the second quarter, capped off with a Nick Jones 11-yard touchdown run.

Eastlake fumbled on its next possession and it was recovered by Bothell’s Nate Baker. On the next play, the Cougars gave the ball to Ward, who scampered in for a 14-yard score and a 21-6 Bothell lead.

Tony Gardiner put the game on ice with a late second-quarter touchdown pass to Travis McKee and added another touchdown in the fourth quarter when he hit Zach Hekker for a 32-yard touchdown. Gardiner finished with 181 yards on 11-for-17 passing and the two scores.

Eastlake (3-4, 3-5) was held to just 129 total yards.
