Outlook: Lowery is excited about the new league alignment. The team is young, but looks to be competitive.

2000-2001 recap: 9-5 in league, 14-10 overall. Finished fourth in the district playoffs, failing to qualify for state.

Leading athletes: Tim Snyder, senior, 6-3, forward; Kyle Sasser, senior, 6-0, guard; Josh Waite, junior, 6-2. forward.

Outlook: Monroe graduated 10 seniors and has only one returning player with any significant varsity experience.

Coach: Torey Swanson, 1st year.

2000-2001 recap: 14-0 in league, 27-0 overall. Won the 3A state championship.

Leading athletes: Kyle Kendrick, junior, 6-3, guard/forward; Ben Martin, senior, 6-5, forward; Stan Johnson, senior, 6-1, guard/forward; Travis Storrer, senior, 6-1, guard; Vic Carillo, senior, 5-8, guard.

Outlook: The Bulldogs may have lost their top six from a perfect season, but Mount Vernon always has talent.

Coach: Brian Schulle, 1st year.

2000-2001 recap: 2-11 in league, 4-15 overall.

Leading athletes: Grant Bull, junior, guard; Austin Fulgham, junior, guard; Jon Jansen, junior, forward.

Quote: “Our biggest strength is our kids,” Schulle said. “I’m surrounded by a great group of kids. We’re young, but look to be competitive.”

Coach: Len Bone, 6th year.

2000-2001 recap: 10-4 in league, 17-7 overall. Finished fifth in the Wesco 4A playoffs to qualify for the bi-district tournament. Eliminated at bi-district.

Leading athletes: Scott Shine, senior, 6-1, forward; Matt Holzer, senior, 6-0, forward; Josh Vanlandingham, senior, 6-2, forward; Ryan Sommer, senior, 5-10, guard; Josh O’Connor, senior, 5-10, guard.

Quote: “I think we have a chance to be very good,” said Bone. “Our goal is to win the league championship.”

Coach: Nate DuChesne, 5th year.

2000-2001 recap: 12-2 in league, 21-6 overall. Won the Wesco 3A, finished second to Mount Vernon in the district tournament and was sixth at state, losing to Mercer Island in the third-place game.

Leading athletes: Ali Filmon, senior, 5-10, guard; Loren Brokaw, senior, 6-1, guard; Marcus Steele, senior, 6-5, post; Shaun Messerli, senior, 6-1, guard; Brad Bodfish, senior, 6-4, post; Ryan Appleby, junior, 6-2, guard.

Outlook: WIth Appleby and Steele back, and improved play from Messerli and Filmon, Stanwood could be a force in the state tournament.

Coach: Rob McMains, 1st year.

2000-2001 recap: 3-12 in league, 6-14 overall.

Leading athletes: Matt Heinle, senior, 6-4, post; Kyle Trew, junior, 6-2, guard/forward; Travis Torgerson, senior, 6-1, guard; Chuck Fraine, senior, 6-3, forward.

Outlook: Heinle is the only returning starter, but E-W will give any team a game.

Coach: Darrell Olson, 3rd year.

2000-2001 recap: 10-4 in league, 16-7 overall. Eliminated from postseason play during the district tournament.

Leading athletes: Jamie Lee, junior, 6-1, forward; Sam Wertheimer, junior, 6-3, center; Brad Allison, junior, 5-9, guard; Adam Moore, junior, 6-4, forward/center; Vesna Sophan, junior, 5-11, guard; Bennett Johnson, senior, 5-11, guard; Kevin Lloyd, senior, 6-1, forward; John Cronin, junior, 6-1, forward; Nikko Sievers, sophomore, 6-3, forward.

Outlook: The Seagulls are always competitive despite a lack of height.

Coach: Eddie Mascari, 3rd year.

Outlook: Jackson has enough size and athleticism to push Terrace and Mariner for the South title.

Leading athletes: Chris Grounds, senior, 5-9, guard; Nate Lowery, senior, 5-9, guard; Colin Ching, senior, 5-11, guard; Hans Ditlev, junior, 6-5, post; Aaron Rosenberger, junior, 6-4, wing; Nate Saban, junior, 6-3, wing; Nate Tolbert, senior, 6-2, post.

Outlook: After losing four of last season’s five starters to graduation, Leary said it’s going to be a rebuilding year for the Knights.

Coach: Landon Porter, 2nd season.

Quote: “I think we’re very deep,” Parker said. “This is a very balanced league. Probably Mountlake Terrace is the favorite. I think we’ll be good.”

2000-2001 recap: 14-1 in league, 20-4 overall. Finished first in the Wesco 4A South. Runnerup to Kamiak in the league playoffs. Eliminated during the bi-district playoffs.

Outlook: A third consecutive 20-win season is a possibility.

Quote: “We have nine seniors out and that gives us experience and flexibility,” said King. “We hope to have good results.”

Outlook or Quote: The two-time Northwest A League champs move back to the B league and ought to win there, too. The Loggers failed to qualify for state last season for the first time in five years.

Coach: Bill Homann, 1st year

2000-2001 recap: 4-4 in league, 21-10 overall. Won league playoff for tri-district berth. Finished third in the tri-district, eight in the state.

Leading athletes: Darren Broekhuis, senior, 6-2, forward; Garth Brandal, sophomore, 6-1, forward; Chris Ching, senior, 5-11, guard; Brandon Dennis, senior, 5-11, guard.

Outlook: Graduated the front line off its state tournament team, but have seven returnees. Should be in the thick of it with Darrington.

Coach: Ron Bollinger, 7th year.

2000-2001 recap: 4-9 in league, 10-13 overall. Eliminated from postseason during league playoffs.

Leading athletes: Ryan Rourke, senior, 6-7, wing; Daylor Haines, senior, 6-5, wing; Steve Fore, senior, 6-6, wing; Rocky Jorgensen, junior, 6-1, guard.

Outlook: The Cougars should make the league playoffs again.
