The Mariners may not have reached the anything-to-spark-the-offense stage of their search for, well, anything to spark the offense. But tonight, they’re rolling out yet another new guy in the second spot.
Russell Branyan, the team leader with 11 home runs, 23 RBI and a .412 on-base percentage, will bat second.
Interesting move by manager Don Wakamatsu, who was frustrated not only by the two hits the Mariners got in their shutout loss Monday night, but also the lack of patience and adjustments the hitters made against left-hander Rich Hill.
We’ll hear from Wakamatsu within the hour on what went into this lineup. Here it is:
Mariners
Ichiro Suzuki, right field
Russell Branyan, first base
Adrian Beltre, third base
Ken Griffey Jr., DH
Jose Lopez, second base
Yuniesky Betancourt, shortstop
Rob Johnson, catcher
Endy Chavez, left field
Franklin Gutierrez, center field
