Bratt, McNeill lead Oak Harbor to win

OAK HARBOR – Sarah Bratt did her damage in the first quarter and Heidi McNeill brought hers in the fourth, as the Oak Harbor frontline devastated Arlington in a 49-35 Wildcat win Friday.

Bratt scored six points as Oak Harbor took an 18-11 lead to end the opening quarter of the Wesco North game.

Then, with Oak Harbor trying to protect a 34-21 lead, McNeill dumped in eight points in a closely contested fourth quarter.

McNeill finished the game with 21 points and 10 rebounds.

Guard Randi Richardson, Arlington’s sophomore scoring ace, scored 24. The rest of the Eagles combined for 11 points.

“We did a really good job rebounding and defending inside and we did a really good job on Richardson,” said Oak Harbor coach Brett McLeod. “(Arlington’s) so good at finding ways to get Richardson open that’s what you have to be ready for.”

Oak Harbor improved to 2-1 in league, 4-2 overall. Arlington, trying to compete with the likes of Oak Harbor, Snohomish and Lake Stevens in the top-heavy Wesco North, fell to 1-2, 2-2.

“I see them having improved from last year quite a bit,” McLeod said.
